Altimate Platform integration

This document lists all available Altimate tools and their usage for analyzing Snowflake queries and tables with AI-powered optimization insights. These tools are Altimates specialized agents for Snowflake Cost Optimizations for queries, tables, and warehouses

Tools

Tool Name Description Parameters
altimate_analyze_snowflake_query Analyze a Snowflake query for performance and cost: execution statistics, bottlenecks, resource usage and recommendations. - query_id (string): The ID of the query to analyze
altimate_analyze_snowflake_table Analyze a Snowflake table's storage, clustering and read/write patterns, with optimization recommendations. - table_name (string): The name of the table to analyze
altimate_analyze_query_opportunity Explain a query-optimization opportunity found by Altimate's performance analysis. The opportunity ID has the form <query_hash>/<opportunity_type>-<unique_id>. - opportunity_id (string): The opportunity_id to analyze. This field is required
- query_id (string, optional): The query_id to analyze (optional)
- query_hash (string): The hash of the query. This field is required
altimate_analyze_query_static Check a SQL query for common anti-patterns without running it, such as SELECT *, functions in join or filter conditions, and ORDER BY without LIMIT. - sql_file_path (string): Path to a file containing only the compiled SQL query, without dbt Jinja
- dialect (string, optional): The SQL dialect (default: snowflake). Options: snowflake, bigquery, postgres
altimate_semantic_layer_list_metrics List the Snowflake metrics Altimate has processed, such as warehouse cost, query volume and clustering history, with their aggregations and dimension names. Works only if Snowflake is onboarded to Altimate. None
altimate_semantic_layer_get_metric_details Get the full definition of metrics: dimensions, measures, aggregation logic and semantic model. - metric_names (array): Names of the metrics to get details for
altimate_semantic_layer_query_metric Query metrics, grouped, filtered and ordered by their dimensions. Returns the generated SQL and the results. - metrics (array): Metric names to query
- group_by (array, optional): Dimension names to group by
- where (string, optional): SQL WHERE clause for filtering
- order_by (array, optional): Dimension names to order by
- limit (number, optional): Maximum number of rows to return
