dbt integration

The dbt integration gives the agent tools to inspect, compile, query and build your dbt project. It runs dbt on your machine, so it needs a local project and Python environment.

Altimate turns the dbt integration on for each organization. If it isn't in your list of integrations, contact Altimate support.

If you use the Power User for dbt extension in VS Code or Cursor, there is a separate Power User for dbt integration that works through the extension instead.

Configuration

dbt_get_parent_models	Returns the list of models that the specified model depends on (upstream)	- connection_id (string) - table (string)
dbt_get_columns_of_model	Get the column names and data types of a dbt model.	- connection_id (string) - modelName (string)
dbt_get_columns_of_source	Returns the column names and data types for a specified dbt source.	- connection_id (string) - sourceName (string) - tableName (string)
dbt_get_column_values	Returns the distinct values for a specified column in a dbt model.	- connection_id (string) - modelName (string) - columnName (string)
dbt_compile_model	Compile a model's Jinja into raw SQL. It doesn't validate the SQL or build anything.	- connection_id (string) - modelName (string)
